On July 16, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer officially declared the day “Murray State Day” in Louisville.
Fischer’s recognition came as Murray State made a stop for its Racer Roadshow at the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville. Murray State held a meeting with the Mayor’s office and Louisville Forward, the city’s economic development office, regarding workforce development and future job opportunities for current students.
The official proclamation, signed by Fischer, reads, “July 16, 2019 is hereby proclaimed in Louisville, Kentucky to be Murray State Day in celebration of the Racer Road Show and I urge all citizens to observe this special recognition.”
Shawn Touney, Director of Communication at Murray State, said the declaration was an honor.
“We’re very grateful to the city of Louisville, Mayor Greg Fischer and Louisville Forward to have had July 16 proclaimed as Murray State Day in Louisville,” Touney said. “That evening’s Racer Roadshow event was attended by many alumni and supporters of the university, as well as incoming students and prospective students who are interested in learning more about Murray State. The city of Louisville and the surrounding area is vitally important for our university, particularly in the areas of workforce development and future career opportunities for our students and graduates.”
The Racer Roadshow is making a stop at the Nashville Zoo on July 17.
The final Racer Roadshow stop, which was previously scheduled to be at the President’s home in Murray, will now be held at the Murray Room in the CFSB Center from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The CFSB Center is located at 1401 KY-121.
