Two Murray State anglers took home the top prize at this year’s national championship.
Adam Puckett and Blake Albertson, both from Bloomington, Indiana, won the FLW 2019 National Fish Championship on the Potomac River on June 6.
With a five-bass limit weighing in at 15 pounds, 8 ounces, the duo’s limit outweighed Bethel’s Tristan McCormick and Dakota Pierce limit by three 3 ounces, the smallest margin of victory in FLW history.
The win took the duo a little while to take in.
“This whole week could not have gone any better. It’s been unbelievable,” Albertson said “We knew nothing about tidal water fisheries coming into this event. We came up here and really made it up as we went in practice, and everything just fell into place. This is just insane!”
Puckett said he was just hoping to make the top 10.
“I knew I was gonna enjoy this tournament, but I didn’t know we were going to win it,” Puckett said.
With a national championship under their belt, the duo will head down to Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Arkansas in August for the world championships.
