After the election for faculty regent ended on April 11, no candidate received a simple majority of the votes required.
As required by the Faculty Handbook, a runoff election for the top two candidates will be held from April 17-18 via MyGate. The procedure for the runoff election will be the same as the initial election, according to an email sent out by the Faculty Senate Rules, Elections and Bylaws Committee.
The top two candidates competing for faculty regent are Melony Shemberger and Paul Walker.
The committee also said in the email that the 2019 faculty regent election had the highest total number of votes in comparison to the last three contested elections.
Elections for faculty regent will begin at 12:01 a.m. on April 17 and end at 11:59 p.m. on April 18.
