After a crime spree, two burglary suspects have been apprehended by the Murray State Police.
On Jan. 11, the Murray Police Department issued a press release stating that charges have been filed against two juveniles suspected to be linked to a string of robberies in the “Cambridge 2” area. This area, off Bailey Road, includes Welch Drive, Harvard Drive, Princeton Drive, Stanford Drive, Vassar Drive and Wilshire Drive.
Seven robberies have been reported in this area throughout a short period of time before the suspects were apprehended. An investigation led by officers obtained information that led to the two juveniles.
After speaking with the suspects and their guardians, a search warrant was acquired and the police department released details about items that were found in the juveniles’ possession inside a storage shed.
“Inside the shed, officers found multiple items that had been reported stolen in recent reports,” according to the press release. “Among the items that were stolen and recovered include a handgun, multiple electronic devices, jewelry and clothing items.”
Since the suspects are juveniles, their identities have not been released and the charges were filed through a designated court worker who handles juvenile affairs. However, the press release disclosed the charges filed.
“The charges that were filed include 1st degree burglary (Class B Felony) and theft of a firearm (Class D Felony),” according to the press release.
The police department urges anyone with information regarding other burglaries in the same area to contact the Murray State Police Department and ask to speak with Detective Wiggins.
