Murray State women’s basketball is back home for a non-conference matchup against Lipscomb University on Tuesday, Nov. 20
The Racers are looking to recover from its first loss of the season against Butler University. The Racers fell to the Bulldogs in their first road test of the season 86-65. Rechelle Turner said in her postgame interview that Her team beat themselves against Butler. The Racers struggled to find their composure on offense, turning the ball over 23 times in the game.
Despite the 21-point loss, Murray State played fairly well on the offensive end. The Racers shot 45.5 percent from the field, with freshman guard Lex Mayes leading the way with 15 points on 5-for-5 shooting from three.
Murray State has had balanced scoring offensively thus far, with four Racers averaging double figures. Junior forward Evelyn Adebayo leads the way with 17 PPG, freshman guard Macey Turley is averaging 12 PPG and Mayes and sophomore guard Janika Griffith-Wallace rounds out the scoring at 11.3 PPG.
The Bisons are also looking to bounce back following a 58-46 loss to OVC foe Jacksonville State. Lipscomb sits at 2-2 on the season, boasting wins against Alabama A&M University and Tennessee State.
The Bisons sit in a familiar situation that the Racers find themselves in this season. They graduated seven seniors last season, and now feature an almost entirely new roster.
Taking charge of the offense for Lipscomb this season is sophomore guard Taylor Clark. The second-year player is the only player scoring in double figures, averaging 11.5 PPG through four games this season.
Lipscomb has played tight games to begin the season, winning by single digits in both wins, but losing in double digits in its two losses.
Murray State will take on Lipscomb at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the CFSB Center. Fans can also watch the game using ESPN+.
