The Murray State track and field team sent two athletes to Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday to participate in the Panther Twilight Track and Field Invitational.
Junior pole vaulter Emily Heil and junior high jumper Hope Tewes made the trip to Owensboro, Kentucky to partake in the events.
Heil participated in the pole vault, posting a mark of 3.35 meters. That mark ties her season best and was good for second place in the event.
Head Coach Adam Kiesler was pleased with Heil’s performance.
“I think she is doing better, she had a few weeks off indoor so I think she is being a little more consistent. She has had better practices and meets as a whole,” Kiesler said.
Tewes placed second in the high jump with a mark of 4.11 meters.
The rest of the Racers return to action next Saturday, April 14, in the Austin Peay Invitational.
Kiesler has made sure to keep his athletes who had the week off ready to go.
“The kids who didn’t compete last week trained hard and will continue to train hard this week,” Kiesler said.
