Chris Thile, lead singer of Nickel Creek and Murray State alumnus, has announced a benefit concert to be held in Lovett Auditorium in October.
Proceeds from the concert will go toward different music programs at Murray State for advancement.
More specifically, they will go toward developing a scholarship fund for the Department of Music through the MSU Foundation.
That scholarship recognizes first-generation college students who have a desire to learn about music education.
Along with his work in the band Nickel Creek, Thile will also become the host of “A Prairie Home Companion” in 2016.
Tickets to Thile’s benefit concert will go on sale today at 10 a.m. online at Ticketmaster and at the CFSB Center Box Office.
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29.
