The Murray State ‘Breds will face Jacksonville State at home this weekend to close out a four-game homestead.
The ‘Breds are coming off of a 12-6 win at home against Evansville Wednesday. This ended a seven-game losing streak and was the second win recorded against Evansville since 2005.
“We came out a lot looser and ready to play,” Mike Kozlowski, senior infielder said. “We just mentally had fun out there and ended our loosing streak.”
The top five hitters in the line-up; junior Ty Stetson, senior Brandon Elliott, junior Brandon Eggenschwiler, Kozlowski and senior Dylan Wheeler; for Murray State contributed most of the hits. All together they went 11 for 19 with 11 RBIs.
The momentum from the win should help the ‘Breds this weekend against a tough Jacksonville State team.
This is the 10th OVC series since 2004 in which the ‘Breds and the Gamecocks have faced each other. In most of those games the ‘Breds have come out on the losing end, winning only two of the series. The ‘Breds have not won a series against Jacksonville State at home.
Kozlowski said as long as the team keeps making big hits they should be able to win Friday.
The first game of the series is set to begin at 3 p.m. Friday. Junior Cameron Finch will be starting pitcher.
