A vehicle has left an oil or hydraulic fluid spill along KY 2075/North 4th Street in Murray creating hazardous driving conditions.
This is along about a ½ mile section of KY 2075/North 4th Street between Andrus Drive and Bee Creek Bridge north of Murray’s downtown area.
The KYTC Calloway County Highway Maintenance Crew has spread #11 stone along this section in an effort to absorb the oil and improve traction for vehicles. The owner of the vehicle that leaked the fluid will be responsible for cleaning the roadway and any environmental issues.
Motorists should use caution along this section of KY 2075/North 4th Street in Murray.
Cleanup efforts could take 3 or more hours at this site.
UPDATE:
Due to the threat of rain and the continued hazard posed by an oil slick along KY 2075/North 4th Street in Murray, the KYTC Calloway County Highway Maintenance Crew has placed message boards at each end of this section to alert motorists to potential traction issues.
Most of the oil appears to be along the northbound lane, but may be tracked over to the southbound lane in places. Fine gravel spread over the oil slick has helped provide better traction and absorbed the oil.
Message boards will remain along this section until sometime Tuesday morning when an environmental remediation team should complete clean up of the area.
Motorists are advised to continue to use caution along KY 2075/North 4th Street between Andrus Drive and the Bee Creek Bridge. This is the connector from downtown Murray to US 641 North.
