The Murray State women’s track and field squad competed at the Indiana University Relays on Friday and Saturday. The meet was the Racers’ fourth indoor event of the season.
Sophomore Ashley Conway had a solid meet for MSU at Indiana, Conway placed third in the high jump with a leap of 5′-03”. Conway also placed 13th in the long jump with a jump of 16′-7.75”. Jolyta Taylor took ninth in the long jump with a career-best leap of 17′-2.75”.
Tonia Pratt finished eighth in the shot put for MSU. Pratt had a throw of 43′-3.75” in the event. Addie Paris set a new career-high in the shot with a toss of 38′-6”.
The 4×400 meter relay team of Alexis Love, Sharda Bettis, LaShea Shaw and Taylor set a new team-best time of 3:55.27 this season in the relay and placed 12th. The group of Ali Hester, Brittany Bohn, Emma Gilmore and Leah Krause took eighth-place in the 4×800 meter relay, recording a time of 10:01.18.
The Racers set multiple PR’s over the weekend at the meet. Natalie Pattin ran a PR time of 2:24.56 in the 800 meters. Bohn ran a career-best time of 5:19.42 in the mile, while Hester and Krause set PR’s in the 3K with times of 10:57.37 and 11:17.32, respectively.
Jill Jacino also tied a new career-high in the triple jump with a jump of 34′-09”. Meanwhile, Gilmore recorded a time of 1:42.71 in the 600 meters, her first time competing in that event in 2013. Shaw also placed fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.45 in her morning group.
The Racers are back in action next weekend as they will travel to Southern Illinois for the third time this season for the SIU Invitational in Carbondale, Ill. It will be MSU’s second-to-last meet before the OVC Championships on Feb. 22-23.
