Around 31.6 million people across eleven states were able to see this year’s total solar eclipse. Among those hotspots was Melber, Kentucky, a rural town roughly 40 minutes away from Murray. The Mayfield-Graves County Tourism Commission and Melber Civic Club hosted a fundraiser and eclipse viewing party to invite people from the community and beyond to witness it. As part of this historic event, 270 Stories associate editor Scottlynn Ballard traveled to Melber for a small-town perspective.
