In the 147th all-time meeting between Murray State and Middle Tennessee, the Racers breezed past the Blue Raiders 88-67 in Murfreesboro on Nov. 16.
MTSU jumped out to a nine point lead with just over 12 minutes to go in the first half, but the Racers took the lead with just under 10 minutes left in the half and never give it back. A 14-0 run over 2:57 and a career-high 16 points out of junior KyeRon Lindsay saw Murray State go to halftime with a 44-30 lead.
The second half continued to be all Murray State. MTSU cut the lead to 10 with 11:33 remaining in the game, but back-to-back three pointers by senior Terence Harcum and a fourth three pointer from senior AJ Ferguson stopped any chance at a Blue Raider comeback.
Lindsay’s career day saw him finish with 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists and five blocks on 12-16 shooting. He is the first, and only, player since the 2004-05 season to have this stat line according to Basketball Reference.
Ferguson finished the game with 16 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. All of his points came from the three-point line and the free throw line, where he went 4-4 from both. Senior JaCobi Wood had 15 points and six assists, with 13 of those points coming in the second half. Harcum finished with 11 points.
As a team, the Racers shot 61.5% from the field and 52.6% from three. They also hit 87.5% of their free throws.
Murray State’s next game is on Nov. 20, when the Racers host the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks at the CFSB Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
