Murray State Athletics announced earlier today that alcohol will begin being served at Roy Stewart Stadium as part of a pilot program starting during the 2024 football season.
Alcohol has become a staple at most tailgates and game day events and is now coming to Murray State.
Nico Yankto, director of athletics, said the athletics department is “constantly exploring unique ways to further enhance game day” and is committed to “providing a world-class experience” for the fans.
“This is the right time for Murray State to implement this pilot program and we are excited to see how we can develop this plan to begin sales at future sporting events,” Yankto said.
Each transaction will require an identification check. Any use of fake IDs will result in confiscation of the ID and individuals will be referred to law enforcement. Students presenting false IDs will be subject to the student conduct policy.
The program will only allow the purchase of two drinks per transaction at specific locations throughout the concourse, with those locations and pricing to be announced at a later date.
Alcohol sales will stop at the end of the third quarter of every game and alcohol can not leave the stadium.
Murray State now joins all other Division 1 institutions in Kentucky and all other Missouri Valley Football Conference programs to sell alcohol on game day courtesy of this program.
Alcohol sales at other sporting events and venues at Murray State is currently under review.
